Try our Grilled Cheddar Biscuits, packed with sharp cheddar cheese and brushed with decadent butter-herb topping before serving warm and fresh. Make sure to follow the mixing instructions carefully and don’t overmix for a tender dough and crumbly biscuit.
Biscuit Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tsps. baking powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. sugar
- ½ tsp. baking soda
- ½ tsp. garlic powder
- 6 tbsp. butter, chilled
- 1 ½ cups sharp cheddar cheese, grated
- 1 cup buttermilk
- ½ cup sour cream
Topping Ingredients:
- 8 tbsp. butter, melted
- 1 tsp. garlic powder
- 2 tsp. dried or fresh chopped parsley

Instructions
- Preheat grill to medium heat, set up for indirect grilling.
- In a large bowl, mix flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, baking soda and garlic powder.
- Add in the butter, using a pastry cutter, fork, or your fingers to cut the butter into small pieces, some lumps are ok here, but work fast to keep the butter chilly.
- Add in the cheese and lightly mix.
- Add in the buttermilk and sour cream, stirring together until just moist – don’t overmix!
- Lightly spray a cast iron or grill-safe baking sheet with oil, then drop biscuit mix on to form 12 biscuits even in size and evenly spaced.
- Place the pan over indirect heat, close the lid and grill about 20 minutes.
- In a small bowl, mix the topping ingredients together.
- Remove the cast iron pan carefully and brush the topping over the biscuits; serve while warm.
