OUT OF AN ABUNDANCE OF CAUTION, WE ARE VOLUNTARILY RECALLING A SMALL NUMBER OF POTENTALLY COMPROMISED GRILL TANK CYLINDERS.
If you purchased or exchanged an AmeriGas Propane Exchange 20lb grill tank/cylinder in the Southern & Central New Hampshire and Eastern Massachusetts (Boston Metropolitan) area between the dates of July 27, 2023 - August 2, 2023 please check the cylinder collar for the marking: EVAS-M0859.
This recall notice is limited to 490 total tanks/cylinders that made it into the market prior to identification and potential defect. If you purchased or exchanged barbeque (BBQ) grill tanks/cylinders outside of these locations, on different dates, or without the "EVAS-M0859" stamp, you have no reason to be concerned. They are unaffected.
The affected barbecue cylinders / tanks have a stamp on the collar (the ring around the top with the carry handle) showing the letters EVAS M0859 pressed into the metal as pictured.
If, however, you find yourself to be one of the 490 affected AmeriGas Propane Exchange customers please accept our sincere apology and return your cylinder to the location where you bought it for a replacement tank. AmeriGas is not the manufacturer of these cylinders, but we are issuing this recall for our customers' safety and peace-of-mind. Please rest assured that all cylinders were thoroughly inspected and confirmed to be leak free multiple times before shipment.
The potential defect we identified is part of the propane tank/cylinder valve assembly that could result in a leak after disconnection from the grill- but only if you forget to close the barbeque tank/cylinder valve.
